Job Description:  Overview:
The Accountant for the specialty businesses will assist in establishing the underlying architecture of the various accounting functions surrounding physician practice accounting. Coordinates physician accounting practices and procedures to ensure compliance with the latest Accounting and regulatory requirements. Monthly reviews of gross and net revenue and insuring proper contractual deductions. Prepares financial reports and analysis necessary to identify trends and provides key information to management. Prepares and enters all necessary journal entries related to the monthly close. Prepares manual accruals for major accounts. Researches and explains significant variances to Budget. Prepares narratives based on margin results. Reconciles data from internal and external interfaces. Monitors the activities of the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. Develops, plans, and drives departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Maintains, monitors, and reviews account reconciliation for assigned balance sheet accounts. Oversees the preparation and filing of various tax returns. Oversees the completion of regulatory reporting required by federal and state governments. Assists with interim and year-end audits. Keeps management abreast of unusual accounting issues. Assists with special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three years of accounting experience in healthcare or related environment. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP). Ability to work on various assignments simultaneously and communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing with department heads, managers, coworkers and vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions. Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within an automated systems as well as a variety of software packages such as Outlook, Excel and Word.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred. CPA desirable.
